Our story

IMG_6543.jpg

We first met in Birmingham back in October 2015. Whilst it would be wonderful to say we exchanged glances from across the library or Dan intervened when Emily was being mugged (more plausible in Birmingham), we actually met through the dating app Tinder. For the grandparents reading this, think of it as a modern equivalent of the town hall dance.

However, to put some true romance back into this story, since the first message was sent we have spoken every single day since. That means by the time we reach the wedding we will have listened to each other talk for 2829 consecutive days. Whether you want to say, “They must really love each other” or “They’re getting married because they’ve run out of things to talk about”, it can’t be denied that we don’t mind each other’s company!

Emily is a Shropshire girl through and through, however does a very good job of masking her accent. Although speaking of accents, Dan’s is quite something to behold as he has lived in the south, the midlands and the north of England. During his speech look out for him slipping between ‘grass’ and ‘graarss’.

After dating for several years in Birmingham we moved to Banbury and rented our first house together, before moving to Oxford. A few months later the pandemic hit, and we had EVEN MORE time to speak to each other. We planned to move to ‘the countryside’ (Shropshire) when we were older but decided to accelerate our plans, and subsequently our aging process, by buying an old cottage in the middle of nowhere. It was, and indeed still is, a fixer-upper but we are very happily living here with our two dogs Dora and Taylor, and our rabbit Evie.

Dan decided the next step was to pop the question and you can enjoy watching our
engagement video to see how that happened!

We’ve got many more chapters to come in our story, but we are most excited to be sharing the next one with you on the 22nd July 2023!
